Abstract

Background. The studying of comic forms of postwedding period in Russian traditional wedding is one of the urgent problems of the modern research of wedding ceremonies. It will allow understanding their origin and development, interaction of ritually-mythological semantics and theatrically elements in them. The purpose is to examine «the deceased» wedding game in the context of similar playing forms in festive ritual space of Russian village.
Materials and methods. The realization of research problems was achieved through the usage of documents from the folk archive collection of literature department of Ulyanovsk State Pedagogical University named after I. N. Ulyanov, descriptions of Russian wedding in the XIX and XX centuries. The comparativehistorical method became a methodological research basis, it allows to match the wedding traditions of different eras and regions, as well as festive and ritual traditions of a region in a certain historical period.
Results. As a result of the research the typology of «the deceased» game was built, the related phenomena in the funeral and calendar-holiday rituals, games, children and youth entertainment, some short plays in folk theater were considered.
Conclusions. Studying of «the deceased» wedding game in a broad festive ritual space of Russian village allowed to show that it existed and was developed in a single festive ritual space of the village, where the same people were either spectators or participants or organizers of various ceremonies, celebrations, games in which one of the favorite games for a long time remained «the deceased» game.
